He Said, She Said

So I was on the bus today after class and this guy and girl come and sit right in front of me. For like 10 whole minutes they’re talking about the relationship between Person X and Person Y, who (from what i could tell) were a part of their group of friends. The whole time they were like “she says do this, and he does it right away- what’s up with that… i’m gonna talk to her… and then i got buzzed… and she was like ‘blah blah blah’ and then he said ‘OMG blah blah’… etc, etc. Anyway, it got me wondering why people have nothing better to talk about. Why are we always so concerned with other people’s lives? I personally feel as though I have more than enough to think about, worry about in my own life- who has the time to be all up in someone else’s biziness? Not to mention that backbiting/gossiping is a major sin… although, i’m pretty sure these peeps weren’t muslim… but when muslims do it too, it’s just a whole different story. The question is, what do u do when someone comes up to u and is constantly saying negative stuff about any (not one in particular) third party person? Do you just laugh it off and say “I don’t really care,” or do u get all up in their face and start reciting fatwa’s to them? or do u just ignore it?

On another note, today I decided that I’m the most indecisive person I know…
Is that an oxymoron?

One Response to “He Said, She Said”

  1. I think the same sometimes too. Its really sad to see a fellow muslim engaging in gheebah. I think the right thing to do is to stop the person there and then but being careful enough and polite, so as not to offend the person.
